FLOWERS AND LEMONS IN AN ORIENTAL DISH by ELIZABETH BLAYLOCK

12 X 12 OIL ON CANVAS
This colorful oil still life was painted from life rather than a photo.  I have used the little oriental dish in several paintings as I think the pattern adds a lot of interest.

"Rabbit Hole" by Carolyn McDonald

Here's the story about a new "Rabbit Hole."  A few weeks ago, I was taking all my donut paintings home.  I placed wet canvas in the back seat and on the floor.  Since I was parked inside the loading dock at school, there was someone in their car and they wanted to leave.  In my hast, I placed the old "Rabbit Hole" and "Sweetheart" on the trunk lid; thinking that I would put them in the trunk after I backed out of the loading dock.  It just happened to be Friday, and in my enthusiasm, I forgot about the two paintings on top of the trunk.  I pulled out onto Lakeshore Drive and then onto I-65.  Traffic was moving well.  I even passed a few people at about 60 miles per hour.  I made an exit onto highway 31 and pulled into our bank parking lot to go in and deposit a check.  When I came out of the bank, there was one painting on top of the trunk.  "Sweetheart" survived roughly 10 miles with bumbs, swerves, and 60 mile per hour winds.  But alas, "Rabbit Hole" bit the dust somewhere.    So, today, I painted another, just a little different, and in honor of the dead rabbit.  To see more paintings, go my website.
