LEMONS AND COPPER POT BY ELIZABETH BLAYLOCK

24 X 24 OIL ON CANVAS
This oil painting is a larger version of a smaller one I did a while back.
Painting the copper reflective surface is fun with alL the beautiful colors.  The little oriental dish has a pattern of boys chasing butterflies.

A SPARROW'S SONG OIL PAINTING BY ELIZABETH BLAYLOCK

8 X 10 OIL ON CANVAS
I have mentioned before that I think  the beauty of the sparrow is often overlooked because they are so plentiful.  This is a chestnut crested sparrow.  Lots of rich siennas!

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?  Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father's care.

"Rabbit Hole" by Carolyn McDonald

Here's the story about a new "Rabbit Hole."  A few weeks ago, I was taking all my donut paintings home.  I placed wet canvas in the back seat and on the floor.  Since I was parked inside the loading dock at school, there was someone in their car and they wanted to leave.  In my hast, I placed the old "Rabbit Hole" and "Sweetheart" on the trunk lid; thinking that I would put them in the trunk after I backed out of the loading dock.  It just happened to be Friday, and in my enthusiasm, I forgot about the two paintings on top of the trunk.  I pulled out onto Lakeshore Drive and then onto I-65.  Traffic was moving well.  I even passed a few people at about 60 miles per hour.  I made an exit onto highway 31 and pulled into our bank parking lot to go in and deposit a check.  When I came out of the bank, there was one painting on top of the trunk.  "Sweetheart" survived roughly 10 miles with bumbs, swerves, and 60 mile per hour winds.  But alas, "Rabbit Hole" bit the dust somewhere.    So, today, I painted another, just a little different, and in honor of the dead rabbit.  To see more paintings, go my website.

OIL PAINTING DEMO BY ELIZABETH BLAYLOCK

8 x 10 OIL ON CANVAS

This is as far as I went in the 40 minute demo.  To finish it up I mixed some big piles of  blue-grey,
green-gray and blue violet to jazz up the water a bit,  I used a palette knife on the reflections.  Then added more intense color on the shirt.
I had a full house for the workshop and we had a lot of fun and hopefully learned a few things!
I plan on posting the 2 other finished demos this week

"Pigeon Hole" by Carolyn McDonald

12"x12"x1&1/2"

I haven't found any donuts with purple icing, so I made my own.  After all, purple is my favorite color.  "Pigeon Hole" is the 8th painting in my series of "The Art of the Hole."  To see more paintings go to my website.

"Man Hole" by Carolyn McDonald

12" x 12" x 1&1/2"
oil on gallery wrap canvas
"Man Hole" is # 7 in my "The Art of the Hole" series. I decided to be more subtle with the title. Hence, the hole is the shape of a man's head (roughly 1960 'isn because of the flat top hair.)  To see more paintings go to my website.

Out of Season by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan

Out of Season by Alabama Artist Angela Sullivan
Among the paint props that my daughter gave me for Christmas was this little snowman. I was gonna wait until next Christmas to paint it but sitting there on the shelf I just couldn't resist along with the fact that every time my daughter came over she said Hey mom, when are you gonna paint the snowman. Well here it is. With the snow storms occurring recently this really isn't out of season.
